** I do not alter physical appearance beyond softening skin & removing blemishes. If you are looking for large-scale physical alteration, I kindly encourage you to find a photographer who is familiar with that style of editing.

ALL HANDS PROJECT

All Hands is a portrait and storytelling project about people on the working waterfront.

I’m documenting perseverance as routine, humor as survival, and work as a chosen life.

Fishing is physical work, but it is not simple work, and the people who do it are not simple people. The individuals I photograph are skilled, thoughtful, widely lived, and shaped by full lives beyond the boat. Fishing isn’t the entire story, but it’s the through-line that connects it.

I’m photographing this project from within the community. I’m one of you, and I approach this work with respect, curiosity, and the understanding that no two lives here look the same. I’m interested in the attitudes that built this island and this fishery: brave, headstrong, quick-thinking problem solvers, considerate community members, people who wear every hat and make things happen no matter the weather.

No contribution is too small. Sitting for a portrait is meaningful, but so is permission to photograph your boat, your gear, or a detail of your day. An image of a boat at the dock can say just as much as a face, and it’s more than enough to be part of the record.

This project isn’t about hardship, nostalgia, or making a point. It’s about accuracy. About showing who we actually are and creating an uplifting memory to hand down, one that reflects the way our grandparents lived, the way we live now, and the values we pass on to our kids.

There is no pressure working with me. Sometimes I miss the shot I hoped for, sometimes I surprise myself, and either way I’m grateful for the chance to listen and learn. I won’t share anything you’re not comfortable with, and participation always happens with clear consent.

A book will be made available when the project is complete. Participants receive 1–5 high-quality digital images. More than anything, this is about respect, telling our own story, in our own way, and leaving behind a record that feels true.
